LA County Federation of Labor Executive Secretary Maria Elena Durazo welcomes labor leaders from across the region to the press conference where she announces the April 15-16-17 "HOLLYWOOD TO THE DOCKS" march. The three-day march will start outside the national headquarters of the SCREEN ACTORS GUILD and wind 28 miles down to San Pedro, where members of the INTERNATIONAL LONGSHORE AND WAREHOUSE UNION will host a massive labor rally on Thursday, April 17th at 6pm in the Port's Berth 87. The County Fed represents 300 unions with a membership of 800,000 workers. In 2008, contracts covering more than 350,000 of these workers are set to expire, which is the purpose for the H2D march.
