I was playing in the World Pipe Band Championships at Glasgow Green on August 15, 1998 when, in Omagh, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland a bomb exploded killing twenty-nine people and injuring over 200. The victims included people from many different backgrounds-- both Protestants and Catholics, nine children, a woman pregnant with twins, and two Spanish tourists as well as with other tourists on a day trip from the Republic of Ireland. We didn't realise the extent of the damage until we got the Sunday papers. A sad day for humanity!
