This centuries old tradition takes place on the second Friday in August. The Burry Man walks, with his attendants, South Queensferry in Lothian, stopping on his tour to rest and drink whisky. He and his family collect the burrs over the previous week or so and apply them in meshed sheets over his lightly clothed body at the Stag's Head pub. He leaves the pub at 8.45 in the morning to return around 6 in the evening worn out and sore!
