Yards from where we live the Government are thinking about dumping a 20,000 house "eco" town. There is not much "eco" about it though. The three villages that border this development are opposed to it, as are the County and City councils but this is a central government initiative. No local consultation is involved. We don't want it! I felt inspired enough to compose and perform this little tune, and walk the fields with my eldest. She loves it out here... why cover it all with concrete???? Aghhhhhhhhh!!!!
Yes, this is a "Nimby" attitude. I make no apology for it. Our backyards happen to be a great swath of beautiful rolling countryside, which will be gone forever. There are not many strong arguments for this development. There is no evidence that we need these houses, and they are not likely to be affordable.
