Peter Bird of The Bicycle Hub, Jackfield discusses with architects Tim Crosskey and Howard Meadowcroft how the renovation of the derelict building opposite his unit might be turned into a workshop for reconditioning second hand bicycles that would otherwise be sent to landfill. The proposal would 1. make good use of an old building 2. provide a new job for a bike mechanic 3. provide a place to dispose of unwanted bikes 4. offer for sale cheaply secondhand bikes that would otherwise go to landfill, It is proposed that building would be renovated as ecologically as feasible, maybe providing electricity created by pedal power
